The faint mutterings of a play-off place and through it, the chance of returning to the promised land, will be silenced for good for another season tonight, if Town fail to beat the Boro. Anything less than a resounding victory could also impact on next seasons season ticket sales so there is everything to play for once again this evening.

I may be Pessimistic by name but not always by nature and if Town were to claim a victory then they would be just six points behind Birmingham in sixth and only eight points behind Brighton in fourth position!
With the majority of the remaining games to be played at home and with Fortress Portman Road once again in evidence, anything is possible in this league - no matter how unlikely it sometimes seems.
The problem of course is that there are a lot of teams in with a real shout of those play-off places and one would expect Birmingham, Cardiff, Blackpool, Hull or Leeds to push on but if they don't then Town should be ready to pounce!
The trouble with Town all season has been our glaring inconsistency and an extraordinarily leaky defence. Carlos Edwards may have excelled since he took the armband but he is always prone to give cheap goals away and sadly this is exactly what he did at Watford and so the hoodoo continues. All the blame for our defensive frailties cannot be pinned on him alone though and as a collective unit everyone is responsible.
Grant Leadbitter coming back tonight should help our cause - although it could be argued that he was in some ways responsible for our defeat at Vicarage Road in the first place, having succumbed to a brainless second yellow in the game against Burnley.
Taking this aside, there is no doubt that he playing with lots of confidence since he was relieved of his captaincy duties, which begs the question is his heart in it after all? It could just be that he is readying himself for a summer exit and is doing a bit of window dressing? We would all like to think however that he wants to stay and has rekindled some form of old.
So then the season is not quite over but if Town drop points tonight it surely will be. Nothing less than a win is good enough if we have serious aspirations of sustaining this rollercoaster of a football ride just a little further.
I have a feeling that Jay Emmanuel-Thomas could be influential tonight and now that he has his shooting boots on we can expect a few fireworks on the field this evening!

Ambrose And Bent Reunited Face To FaceThey were teenage mates playing in the Town youth team I recall. I once saw them over here in the Netherlands in an under-18 tournament and Lewis Price was in goal.

Another Full House at Portman RoadIt is not as crazy as it sounds. Instead of ticket manager John Ford offering season ticket holders the chance to claim up to four tickets for friends at 10 quid per person or £3 for juniors, why not go the whole hog? Business enterprise is all about common sense but common sense is sadly lacking in the world of football, as we all know.

Hands Off Our Town!I was vilified by many in my last blog for having the audacity to suggest that Town would need at least 51 points to avoid the drop. I was perhaps a bit too optimistic and I think in this extraordinary season, Town might a little bit more. It is all so tight down there that literally anything could happen and we must avoid the drop at all costs!

Can Town Fashion Passion Again at Portman Road?My love affair with Ipswich Town developed in a strange sort of way. I began my life near Liverpool and like the rest of the family, supported the Blues. The Merseyside Blues that is! I can recall quite vividly, jumping up and down with joy when Derek Temple scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final of 1966 - which saw Everton claw back a seemingly impossible two-goal deficit against Sheffield Wednesday to lift the trophy! I was just eleven then but the memories linger on.

[Blog] Town Are No Longer KluglessIt is with great delight that I can report today on the return of the prodigal son. Bryan Klug was in many ways Mr Ipswich Town, having been with the club both as a player and then coach for more than 30 years. That was of course until Roy Keane had other ideas. The feel-good factor of his return to the fold will surely fill most Town supporters with a sense of pride.

[Blog] Time For Town's Acid Test. Five wins out a possible six and up to the heady heights of 14th in the Championship and things are looking up! We cannot forget however our disappointing result at Brighton - even if the 3-0 scoreline did not accurately reflect the game as a whole. In this roller-coaster of a season so far, I think the game this evening against the Saints will be a good time to test the water.

[Blog] Town Are Finally Digging Deep And at last, it would appear we have found a tunnel to dig our way out of - even if it is not all that enlightening at this moment in time. We must however be grateful for this small breakthrough in the great scheme of things and certainly the emphatic win against league leaders West Ham United was something that I think none of us saw coming.
